When you create an account, build a registry, or reserve a gift, we collect the information needed to provide our universal registry service:

  • Account Details: When you sign up, we collect your name, email address, and a secure password.
  • Registry Information: Event type (wedding, baby shower, birthday, etc.), couple or celebrant names, optional event date, privacy settings, and uploaded cover photos.
  • Shipping Address: Your delivery address where guests can send gifts. To protect your privacy, full street addresses are never publicly visible to guests or search engines.
  • Gifts & Wishlist Items: Product titles, store links, prices, quantities, and gift photos that you add to your registry.
  • Guest Reservations: When a guest reserves or marks a gift as purchased, we collect their name, optional email (so you can send thank-you notes), and a personal congratulatory message.

2. Registry up Chrome Extension Privacy

The Registry up Chrome Extension allows you to add gift items from any online store directly into your registry in one click. We are committed to transparency regarding the extension’s data practices:

  • Single Purpose: The extension is designed solely to help you add product ideas from online stores to your Registry up gift registry.
  • Data Collected by Extension: Only when you actively interact with the extension on a product page, it extracts the product title, image URL, price, currency, and product link.
  • No Browsing History or Background Tracking: The extension does not monitor your browsing activity, search history, keystrokes, personal communications, or any pages other than the product you choose to add.
  • Permissions Used:
    • activeTab & scripting: Used exclusively to read product details from the currently active store tab when you click the extension.
    • storage: Used to store your active registry selection and temporary item drafts locally in your browser.
    • cookies: Used solely to verify your authenticated login session on registryup.com so you don’t have to enter your password repeatedly.
  • Data Transmission & Security: Product details are transmitted securely over encrypted HTTPS and TLS protocols directly to our verified servers.
  • Zero Sale of Data: We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information or extension data to third-party data brokers, marketers, or advertisers.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information exclusively to:

  • Create, display, and manage your universal gift registries.
  • Notify you when a guest reserves or purchases an item from your wishlist.
  • Send essential transactional communications (email verification codes, password reset links, and gift notifications).
  • Provide customer support and resolve technical questions.

4. Shipping Address Protection

Your privacy and safety are paramount. When guests choose to buy a gift from your registry, our system protects your full shipping address. Guests are guided through purchasing the gift directly from the external retailer with clear delivery instructions without exposing your private street address on the open web.

5. Third-Party Links & Affiliate Disclosure

Our service allows you to link gifts from external retailers (e.g. Amazon, Target, Argos, Jumia, and others). When you or your guests click links to purchase items at external merchants, we may earn an affiliate commission at no extra cost to you or your guests. External merchants are governed by their own independent privacy policies and terms.

6. Cookies & Local Storage

We use standard session cookies and browser storage to maintain your logged-in session, remember your preferences, and synchronize authentication with our Chrome extension. We do not use third-party invasive tracking cookies.

7. Data Retention & Your Rights

You have full control over your data:

  • Editing & Updating: You can edit your registry details, items, and account settings at any time in your dashboard.
  • Deletion: You can delete any registry item or your entire registry directly in Settings. Deleting a registry permanently removes all associated items, uploaded photos, and activity history.
  • Account Closure: You can request complete deletion of your account and personal data at any time by contacting us.
